On March 11-15, 2019, the first mobility took place as part of our ELEVATE project. Three trainers participated in the English for Educators training organized by ShipCon Limassol Ltd. in Palermo.

Three people participated in this activity – our trainers and members of the Foundation Board. They developed their English skills so as to give our organization a European dimension and that they could conduct workshops and trainings in this language for international groups of people.

We also present the reflections of one of the person participating in this trip.

In April I had the opportunity to participate in the “English for Educators” program as part of the Erasmus + project. The training took place in Palermo, Italy, where I had the opportunity to participate in classes in an international group of participants from various parts of Europe.

Each day was thoroughly prepared and thought out in technical and thematic terms. During these few days I was able not only to consolidate English grammar, but also to test myself in understanding and speaking in English. The biggest advantage of the whole trip was the opportunity to meet people from other countries with whom I could exchange experience in the professional as well as personal field.

Getting to know another culture, another point of view and looking at many issues is a very enriching and developing experience. Personally, I value the opportunity to check myself in new situations, where I was “forced” to communicate only in English. However, I consider this way of learning a language the most valuable and effective.

In addition to didactic classes, I had the opportunity to learn about the local cuisine, residents, surroundings and monuments, which, combined with the classes I had, gave me the chance to fully explore and “soak in” the atmosphere of the place.

A trip to Palermo showed me that learning through experience has incomparably more value than traditional methods of learning English and allowed me to test myself in completely new circumstances, thanks to which I gained confidence and confidence in my own skills.
